Mehmet Toybıyık was born in 1950 in the village of Fraktin, Kayseri. He completed his primary education at Talas Zincidere Primary School in Kayseri, followed by his secondary education at Ürgüp Boarding Middle School, and graduated from Adana Boys' High School and Kayseri High School. In 1976, he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Istanbul Yıldız Technical University.

His first professional experience was at Türkiye Petrolleri in Batman. He then fulfilled his military service as a mechanical engineer at Eskişehir İkbal Aviation Maintenance Center between 1976 and 1977. He held engineering and managerial positions at Eskişehir Arçelik Refrigerator Factory, Develi Gazi Felt Factory, Tarsus Çukurova Çimsa Stone Factory, and Kayseri TAKSAN Machine Tools Factory.

In 1975, he married Bahtışen Boz, and they have two daughters, Emel and Gamze. In 1988, he ventured into private business and founded his own company, TOYTEK A.Ş. The company established a language course, a driving school, a dialysis center, a contracting business, and Ürgüp KAPTAŞ Natural Stone Factory. He also co-founded INTEST Natural Stone Factories, which process marble and travertine in Muğla Yatağan, Burdur, and Denizli, and marketed these natural stones to the United States, Europe, and China.

In 1990, he purchased the Haremlik, Selamlık, and adjacent areas of today's Fresco Cave Suites from the Akıllıoğlu family. In 1992, he took on the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ürgüp Chamber of Commerce for 13 years.

In 2007, he re-established TOYTEK with his daughters and founded Yenigün Printing House and Ürgüp Haber Newspaper the same year. In 2008, he began the restoration of the current Fresco Cave Suites hotel, which was opened in November 2011.

In 2016, he opened Ürgüp's first Ministry of National Education-approved girls' dormitory, Apart Hanımeli. Within Fresco Cave Suites, Kadika Rooftop was opened in 2022, followed by Devehanı Restaurant and Nalin Cave Spa in 2024.
